Welcome
to Elissa Mac Studio
Elissa Mac is a contemporary landscape artist based in Central Illinois, creating bold, memory-driven paintings inspired by real places and lived experiences.
Working primarily in acrylic, gouache and watercolor, her work explores the intersection of color, lights and emotion—capturing not just what a place looks like, but what it makes you feel like to be there. Elissa is a passionate wanderer, exploring the diverse landcapes found across the Americas, from the virbant waters of Florida, to Costa Rica's cloud forests, and the cherished National Parks of the U.S. and the critters who make these sacred lands their homes and of course, the often overlooked beauty of the Midwest. Her paintings invite viewers into fluid moments of calm, and connection.
Elissa's artistic practice is rooted in both observation and intuition. With more than 30 years experience as a photographer, she brings a trained eye for composition and light, while allowing memory and emotion to guide her use of color and form.
Her current body of work reflects two parallel paths: a studio practice focused on immersive, color-rich landscapes and wildlife, and an evolving plein air journey where she focuses on documenting her growth and immediate surroundings while learning to see more deeply.
Through both, her intention remains the same: to create artwork that helps people pause, breathe, and reconnect with the places and moments that matter.
